What’s in a name?
Family history research is focused on ancestor’s names, often finding the same names repeated in several generations, not only in the direct line of research, often in secondary family trees as well.
Another trend in name choosing is to use the place name of where a child is born or where the parents have a connection.
Unique names are also popular in modern times with names created to convey a name with special meaning to the family concerned.
Name selection using the mother’s maiden name or previous generational surnames is common in family history research.
