Family History Research in Springtime
15th September 2021
Spring is a fantastic time of year, and the warmer weather has arrived here in Australia, with the promise of rain just around the corner.
It's always a great time to begin or continue your family history research.
So many more records are becoming available to view on your computer at home via online access from your local or state library.
Queensland Births, Deaths & Marriages Family History Research Service (BDM Qld) index is very user-friendly and will provide matches of similarly spelled names.
And of course, Trove website, an initiative of the National Library of Australia, is an amazing resource for digitised newspapers, where you can search birth, death and marriage notices, as well as articles that may relate to your ancestor.
If your ancestor served in World War I - information can be openly accessed at the Australian War Memorial website.
Passenger lists are also a great place to find ancestors that migrated to Australia.
Obituary files are added daily to our free surname search on this website homepage, and if the name of your ancestor is not there, please email us at
admin@obituaryresearchservice.com.au for specific research requests, for relatives who lived and died in Queensland, Australia.
Family is time well spent
